Job Description


We are looking for a hands-on Field Engineer – IT to provide onsite installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support for IT infrastructure at customer locations and onboard vessels. The role requires practical expertise across servers, networking, virtualization, cybersecurity, firewalls, CCTV, and vessel IT systems, along with the ability to handle escalated technical issues independently.

The Field Engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining IT infrastructure and related systems onboard vessels and at customer sites. The role involves frequent travel, direct customer interaction, coordination with vessel crews and remote support teams, and ensuring the stability, security, and performance of deployed systems.

Key Responsibilities

IT Systems & Software

  • Install and configure printers, scanners, and onboard computers.
  • Deploy and configure preconfigured computers with network connectivity.
  • Set up common folders and enable file sharing across network PCs.
  • Install and configure essential software such as MS Office, Adobe, WinRAR, ESM Browser, and related applications.
  • Configure internal mail accounts across onboard computers.

Infrastructure & Networking

  • Perform onsite installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of IT products.
  • Troubleshoot Remote Desktop Services (RDS), connectivity, and performance issues.
  • Install and configure servers, virtual machines, and domain infrastructure.
  • Configure and troubleshoot firewalls and network security equipment.
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN, routing, switching, and connectivity issues.
  • Configure and maintain file replication and related systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, system health checks, and equipment replacements.

Cybersecurity

  • Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot endpoint security and antivirus solutions.
  • Monitor and support cybersecurity incidents in coordination with remote support teams.
  • Troubleshoot endpoint security and EDR solutions.
  • Ensure installed systems remain secure and compliant with required cybersecurity standards.

CCTV Systems

  • Install, configure, commission, and troubleshoot CCTV systems onboard vessels.
  • Configure cameras, NVR/DVR systems, PoE switches, cabling, and related accessories.
  • Perform CCTV upgrades, preventive maintenance, and fault rectification.
  • Configure CCTV systems for remote monitoring.
  • Conduct testing, documentation, and system handover after installation.

Field Service & Project Execution

  • Conduct onsite installation, configuration, commissioning, and technical support activities.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and system health checks.
  • Coordinate with customers, vessel crew, agents, remote support teams, and internal departments.
  • Prepare installation, service, commissioning, and configuration reports.
  • Ensure all field activities comply with company procedures and project requirements.
  • Travel frequently to customer sites and vessels as required.
  • Handle escalated technical issues and ensure timely resolution.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience in IT field support and infrastructure.
  • Good knowledge of computer hardware, peripherals, and network configuration.
  • Practical expertise in RDS, servers, virtual machines, and domain infrastructure.
  • Experience with firewall installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of LAN/WAN, routing, networking, and connectivity.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity monitoring, endpoint protection, antivirus, and EDR solutions.
  • Familiarity with file replication and related IT infrastructure systems.
  • Experience with CCTV installation, configuration, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, troubleshooting, and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel frequently.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of marine communication equipment installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance onboard vessels.
  • Previous experience working with maritime IT infrastructure or vessel IT systems will be an advantage.
