Job Description
We are hiring an IT Manager – Senior for a leading organization in the shipping and maritime industry. This is a senior-level opportunity for experienced IT professionals with strong expertise in IT operations, infrastructure management, vessel IT systems, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, cybersecurity, IT projects, and vendor management.
The role involves taking ownership of IT operations across office and vessel environments, managing IT infrastructure and security controls, overseeing Business Central implementation activities, coordinating with technology partners, and ensuring system availability, data protection, and business continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Operations & Infrastructure Management
- Manage and oversee day-to-day IT operations covering hardware, software, network infrastructure, servers, and end-user systems across office and vessel environments.
- Provide technical direction and support for office and vessel IT operations.
- Troubleshoot complex IT issues and coordinate escalation with senior management or external service providers where required.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and administration of servers, Sophos firewalls, network switches, laptops, desktops, access points, and other IT infrastructure.
- Monitor IT infrastructure and system performance to ensure optimum uptime, availability, reliability, and business continuity.
- Manage NAS storage solutions supporting data backup, recovery, and file-sharing requirements.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP
- Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, security profiles, and access controls in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Lead and oversee the implementation of Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and Purchase Module solutions across vessels.
- Manage the complete implementation lifecycle, including software installation, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.
- Coordinate with Business Central functional consultants and implementation partners for developments, enhancements, integrations, troubleshooting, testing, and deployment.
- Identify opportunities to improve ERP functionality and integration with operational requirements.
IT Security, Governance & Policies
- Implement and maintain IT governance and security controls covering user access, role management, change logs, system configurations, NTP/time synchronization, and other applicable controls.
- Ensure IT operations comply with organizational policies and applicable CERT-In guidelines.
- Support and strengthen cybersecurity controls across office and vessel environments.
- Identify potential IT security risks and coordinate appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
IT Projects & Implementation
- Lead or oversee the planning, execution, monitoring, and implementation of IT projects.
- Manage system upgrades, infrastructure enhancements, migrations, and deployment of new applications.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, technology partners, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure projects are implemented within agreed requirements, timelines, and operational expectations.
Vendor & Service Provider Management
- Manage relationships with IT vendors, service providers, consultants, and implementation partners.
- Maintain and review IT contracts, AMC agreements, software licenses, warranties, service reports, and vendor documentation.
- Coordinate vendor support and ensure timely resolution of critical technical issues.
- Monitor service performance and support effective vendor management.
Business Continuity & Data Protection
- Oversee regular backup operations for critical business data and systems.
- Ensure appropriate data restoration and recovery processes are maintained.
- Manage and support IT disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities for critical office and vessel systems.
- Periodically verify backup availability and restoration readiness.
- Ensure IT systems are prepared to minimize business disruption during system failures, incidents, or data loss.
Reporting, Audit & Compliance
- Lead support for IT, cybersecurity, and other technology-related audits.
- Provide required information, technical evidence, and documentation for audit and compliance activities.
- Ensure IT documentation, controls, and records are maintained appropriately.
- Track audit observations and support implementation of corrective actions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong experience in IT operations, infrastructure management, system administration, and technical support.
- Proven experience managing IT infrastructure across office and/or vessel environments.
- Strong working knowledge of networks, servers, firewalls, hardware, software, and IT security.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is preferred.
- Experience with ERP implementation, PMS, Purchase Modules, system integrations, or technology implementation projects will be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, IT governance, data protection, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Experience managing IT vendors, consultants, and external service providers.
- Strong project management, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in the shipping or maritime industry will be highly advantageous.
