Job Description
We are hiring a Head of Engineering for a leading Maritime Company based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for an experienced technology professional to lead engineering, software architecture, cloud infrastructure, AI integration, cybersecurity, and product development for innovative AI-powered SaaS platforms serving the global maritime industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the company's technology strategy, aligning engineering initiatives with business objectives and product roadmaps.
- Lead and mentor cross-functional engineering teams, including Frontend, Backend, Mobile, AI, DevOps, and QA, while fostering a culture of innovation, quality, and accountability.
- Own the architecture, scalability, security, and performance of enterprise SaaS platforms, ensuring reliable and future-ready technology solutions.
- Oversee the complete software development lifecycle, including planning, development, testing, deployment, release management, and continuous improvement.
- Establish engineering best practices for code quality, architecture reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, documentation, and technical governance.
- Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, infrastructure optimization, monitoring, and cost efficiency.
- Lead cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, vulnerability assessments, access controls, and enterprise security standards.
- Drive AI strategy and integration across products, supporting intelligent analytics, automation, maritime safety, compliance, and operational decision-making.
- Collaborate with enterprise customers, product teams, investors, and technology partners to deliver scalable, secure, and commercially successful software solutions.
- Evaluate technology vendors, manage technical partnerships, and ensure effective governance of engineering resources, intellectual property, and development processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in Software Engineering, Product Development, or Technology Leadership.
- At least 4–6 years of experience leading engineering or technology teams in enterprise software environments.
- Proven experience building and scaling SaaS, enterprise, analytics, or operational software platforms.
- Strong expertise in React, Next.js, React Native, Node.js, Express.js, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Microservices, and enterprise software architecture.
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, IAM), Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Git, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices.
- Strong knowledge of application security, cybersecurity, encryption, IAM, vulnerability management, disaster recovery, and enterprise compliance frameworks including ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, and VAPT.
- Experience with AI technologies, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI APIs, analytics platforms, and data pipelines.
- Experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, along with monitoring tools like Sentry and Mixpanel.
- Excellent leadership, architectural design, stakeholder management, communication, and strategic decision-making skills.
- Experience within the Maritime, Offshore, Logistics, Industrial, ERP, Operational Technology, or HSE sectors will be an added advantage.
