HSEQ in Maritime — Ship Building, Ship Management & Ship Recycling

HSEQ in maritime spans three distinct and growing sectors. Ship Building, Ship Management, and Ship Recycling each carry their own risk environment, regulatory demands, and career opportunities. All three are under-served by qualified professionals, and both mariners and non-maritime candidates have a genuine path in. This webinar gives you an honest, structured look at all three.

In this webinar, we will address:

WHAT — Understanding the HSEQ landscape

  • What HSEQ means in practice and why it is a professional discipline, not a compliance checkbox
  • What Ship Building, Ship Management, and Ship Recycling look like from the inside and how the work differs across each
  • What an HSEQ professional actually does day to day and what skills and backgrounds open the door

WHY — The case for this career

  • Why demand for HSEQ professionals is growing faster than the available talent across all three sectors
  • Why regulations such as the Hong Kong Convention, CII, ISM Code, and MLC 2006 are creating long-term structural demand, not a short-term opportunity
  • Why India sits at the centre of this field, with the world's largest ship recycling yards, a growing domestic fleet, and expanding ship management companies.

HOW — The practical path in

  • How to identify which of the three sectors best fits your background, your skills, and your long-term career goals and how to make that assessment honestly
  • How career progression works in each sector: what entry-level looks like, what mid-level demands, and where the senior roles and real earning potential actually sit
  • How the global opportunity is distributed: which geographies are hiring, what salaries look like across India, Singapore, the Middle East, and Europe, and how each market differs
  • How to start building your HSEQ profile regardless of your current background: what to study first, what experience counts, and what most candidates get wrong when they try to break in

What you will walk away with:

  • A clear picture of what HSEQ work involves across Ship Building, Ship Management, and Ship Recycling so you can identify the sector that genuinely fits you
  • An honest eligibility assessment whether you are a mariner, an engineer, a safety professional, or a fresh graduate
  • A decision framework to evaluate your options against your own background, goals, and life situation
  • A realistic career roadmap covering where you could be in 3, 5, and 10 years and which sectors offer the fastest growth
  • A clear view of the global job market, what each geography pays, and where India stands in the picture
  • Concrete next steps whether you are ready to move now or still a few years away

Who should attend:

  • Mariners at any rank from junior officers to Chief Mates and Chief Engineers considering a shore-based transition
  • Freshers and recent graduates with background in Engineering and science looking for a technical career with strong and growing global demand
  • Safety professionals from other industries including construction, oil and gas, and manufacturing looking to move into maritime
  • Anyone working in shipyards, ports, or ship management who wants to formalise and advance their HSEQ credentials

The HSEQ opportunity:

The maritime sector is undergoing its most significant regulatory shift in decades and qualified HSEQ professionals are in short supply across all three sectors. India is at the centre of this, with the world's largest ship recycling yards at Alang, a growing domestic fleet, and expanding ship management companies creating real immediate demand.

  • Ship Building: dedicated HSEQ functions are mandatory in shipyards covering fire risk, confined space, toxic materials, and contractor management. Indian yards keep actively hiring for these roles.
  • Ship Management: shore-based HSEQ professionals manage PSC inspections, oil major vetting, ISM audits, MLC compliance, and incident investigation for vessels under management
  • Ship Recycling: the Hong Kong Convention and EU Ship Recycling Regulation are driving HSEQ investment at recycling facilities, creating strong demand for professionals in hazardous materials, IHM, and environmental monitoring

The webinar would consist of the following:

  • A structured presentation covering all three sectors including scope of work, career progression, and the global opportunity
  • 20 to 25 minutes of live Q&A addressing questions on any sector, career stage, or background
  • A resource pack covering certifications, key employers, and job boards shared with all attendees
