Capt. Arvind Natrajan is Senior Manager at the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), where he leads global efforts on crewing policy, competency frameworks, and seafarer training standards. With over two decades of experience that began at sea and progressed through maritime education and port state control, Capt. Natrajan brings a uniquely holistic perspective on the workforce challenges facing the industry. He also co-leads initiatives on the Maritime Just Transition, addressing the training and competency requirements for next-generation fuels and technologies. His insights into aligning people, policy, and technology make him a highly sought-after speaker on maritime training, decarbonisation, and human-centred industry transformation.
In addition to his operational and regulatory experience, Capt. Arvind Natrajan has been deeply involved in shaping industry-wide workforce development initiatives across global shipping. Through his work with the International Chamber of Shipping and engagement with regulators, training institutions, and industry bodies, he actively contributes to defining future-ready competency frameworks, promoting continuous learning, and supporting a just and inclusive transition for seafarers as the industry evolves.
