Mr. Shanbhag has 44years’ experience in the field of Commercial Operations, chartering, Marine & P& I Insurance and arbitration.He worked for various Indian Ship Owners in Senior capacity for about 23 years. He was Chief Controller of Chartering (Joint Secretary Rank, Govt. of India) from 1995-2005, has been advisor to Mercator group, Trans ocean agency, Mayar Group and to “Big Four” consultancy groups.
Mr. Shanbhag has conducted Arbitration proceedings – as a part of Tribunal and also as Sole Arbitrator in many cases - and made and published about 85 Arbitration Awards on Charter Party and Contract disputes, Insurance claims, General Average, Dredging Contracts etc.)
He is also:
- Post Graduate in Economics (M.A) Mumbai University, India
- Diploma in Marketing Management. Davar’s College of Management, Mumbai
- Fellow Member (By Examination) Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, U.K
- Associate Member (By Examination) (Specialization: Marine Insurance) -
- Federation of Insurance Institutes, Mumbai:
- Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Transport, U.K.

Mr. Vinod Shanbhag
ex- Chief Controller of Chartering of TRANSCHART,Mr. Shanbhag has 44years’ experience in the field of Commercial Operations, chartering, Marine & P& I Insurance and arbitration.He worked for various Indian Ship Owners in Senior capacity for about 23 years.
