Job Description


The Vessel Operations Executive will be responsible for the efficient execution of vessel handling, container discharge, movement, and shipment activities. The role involves coordinating with ports, terminals, vessel agents, CTOs, empty depots, customs, CFS, transporters, and internal teams to ensure timely and compliant container operations.

Role Overview

The role focuses on import and export container operations, vessel and cargo coordination, documentation support, customs procedures, container movement, invoicing, and compliance with applicable shipping and cargo-handling procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive import discharge lists from the Documentation team and obtain necessary permissions for container discharge and movement.
  • Obtain damaged container lists from surveyors and communicate details to the Documentation team and load port.
  • Submit SMTP copies to Port/Customs for movement of containers to various ICD locations.
  • Obtain and monitor daily gate-in reports.
  • Communicate the final list of containers loaded and sailed.
  • Receive and verify invoices from ports, CFSs, transporters, and other service providers before forwarding them to Accounts.
  • Monitor vessel ETA/ETD, IGM/EGM, and cargo status.
  • Coordinate with ports, terminals, vessel agents, CTOs, and empty container depots.
  • Manage import and export laden containers, including short-shipment and rolled cargo.
  • Handle customs queries, ICEGATE procedures, and container bonds.
  • Ensure compliance with SCMTR and DG/IMDG requirements.
  • Monitor reefer container operations and related requirements.
  • Ensure timely submission of vessel-handling applications and operational procedures.
  • Coordinate the timely availability and dissemination of vessel and cargo-related information.

Requirements

  • Graduate or Postgraduate in any discipline.
  • 7–8 years of relevant experience in shipping, vessel operations, container operations, or related areas.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Sound understanding of shipping and container operations.
  • Knowledge of customs procedures, ICEGATE, container movement, and relevant compliance requirements.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Self-driven and capable of managing operational activities independently.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
