Job Description


We are seeking a Junior Rank Engineer – EU ETS Claims with a background as a 3rd Engineer or 4th Engineer in the maritime industry. This opportunity is suited to junior marine engineering professionals who have practical seagoing experience and are interested in developing expertise in EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), maritime emissions, voyage data, and environmental compliance.

The role involves supporting EU ETS-related claims and documentation by applying practical knowledge of vessel operations, fuel consumption, and marine engineering data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation and processing of EU ETS claims related to vessel operations.
  • Review vessel operational data, fuel consumption records, and relevant supporting documentation.
  • Assist in validating fuel and emissions-related data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate with vessel and shore-based teams to obtain required information and documentation.
  • Support the preparation of reports and records related to EU ETS compliance and emissions data.
  • Identify discrepancies in operational or emissions-related data and assist with their resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records of EU ETS-related documentation and claims.
  • Assist with monitoring regulatory requirements related to maritime emissions and environmental compliance.
  • Support internal teams with technical information related to vessel fuel consumption and emissions.
  • Contribute to improving processes for data collection, verification, reporting, and EU ETS claim management.

Requirements:

  • Marine engineering qualification with experience as a 3rd Engineer or 4th Engineer.
  • Relevant seagoing experience on commercial vessels.
  • Good understanding of vessel machinery, fuel consumption, and engine-room operations.
  • Interest in EU ETS, maritime emissions, carbon reporting, and environmental regulations.
  • Good analytical and data-handling skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other standard office applications.
  • Ability to review technical information and identify inconsistencies.
  • Candidates with exposure to EU ETS, MRV, IMO DCS, CII, or maritime emissions reporting will have an advantage.

This role provides an opportunity for a 3rd or 4th Engineer to apply practical marine engineering knowledge in a shore-based function focused on EU ETS claims, emissions data, regulatory compliance, and maritime sustainability.
