Job Description


We are hiring for a Senior Marine Superintendent position in Mumbai for an experienced Master Mariner with strong shore-based marine management experience. The role is open to candidates with experience across any type of vessel and requires strong expertise in vessel operations, safety, compliance, and maritime regulations.

The Senior Marine Superintendent will oversee and support the safe and efficient operation of assigned vessels, providing shore-based guidance to vessel teams while ensuring compliance with company procedures, statutory requirements, and international maritime standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the marine and operational performance of assigned vessels.
  • Provide shore-based guidance and technical support to Masters and vessel teams.
  • Monitor vessel operations, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct and support vessel inspections, audits, and operational reviews.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the Company's Safety Management System.
  • Monitor vessel deficiencies, observations, and corrective actions.
  • Support incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective measures.
  • Coordinate with Flag State, Class, Port State, and other maritime authorities.
  • Monitor statutory, safety, and operational documentation for assigned vessels.
  • Provide guidance on safe navigation, cargo operations, emergency preparedness, and vessel procedures.
  • Support emergency response and coordinate shore-based assistance during incidents.
  • Conduct vessel visits and inspections as required.
  • Review marine reports and monitor operational trends across the fleet.
  • Identify opportunities to improve vessel safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Support the implementation of continual improvement initiatives within marine operations.

Requirements

  • Master Mariner / Master Certificate of Competency preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant shore-based experience in a Marine Superintendent or similar role.
  • Strong seagoing experience as a Master Mariner.
  • Experience on any type of vessel will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of vessel operations, marine safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Good understanding of ISM, ISPS, SMS, Flag State, Class, and Port State requirements.
  • Experience in vessel inspections, audits, incident management, and corrective actions.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to work in Mumbai.
