Job Description


We are hiring for a Crewing Superintendent – Offshore position in Navi Mumbai within the Crewing / Marine Operations function. The role is responsible for end-to-end crew management, crew planning, recruitment, compliance, training coordination, crew welfare, and crew logistics for offshore vessels. Candidates with at least 5 years of relevant crewing experience and strong knowledge of maritime regulations are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and monitor safe manning requirements based on vessel type, operational needs, regulations, and budget requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate crew changes in line with Seafarers’ Employment Agreements and crewing procedures.
  • Manage rotation planning for officers and ratings to maintain adequate vessel manning.
  • Coordinate with vessel Masters, owners, operators, and agents for crew change schedules and locations.
  • Recruit and identify qualified seafarers for fleet requirements.
  • Verify seafarer certifications, qualifications, medical fitness, and mandatory training.
  • Ensure compliance with STCW, MLC, Flag State, and applicable crewing regulations.
  • Maintain accurate crew records, employment documentation, and crew management system data.
  • Arrange and monitor crew travel, visas, accommodation, and related logistics.
  • Monitor crew-related expenses and review relevant vessel disbursement accounts.
  • Identify training requirements and coordinate mandatory courses and certifications.
  • Monitor crew performance, career progression, cadet development, and promotion planning.
  • Prepare crewing reports, manpower forecasts, and crew availability plans.
  • Investigate and follow up on crew-related non-conformities, incidents, observations, and complaints.
  • Coordinate crew sickness, injuries, emergencies, repatriation, and welfare matters.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of crewing procedures and management systems.
  • Promote safety, compliance, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across crew operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant crewing experience with vessels.
  • Experience handling Cable Lay Vessels, AHTS, CSOV, or similar offshore vessels will be an added advantage.
  • Seagoing experience as a Deck or Engine Officer is preferred.
  • Alternatively, candidates with a university degree and at least 2 years of recruitment or crewing experience may be considered.
  • Strong understanding of STCW, MLC, Flag State requirements, and maritime crewing regulations.
  • Good understanding of crew planning, recruitment, certification, and vessel manning requirements.
  • Experience using crewing management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Good stakeholder management and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple operational priorities and deadlines.
  • Leadership skills with strong attention to detail.

About the Role

This is a shore-based opportunity for an experienced Crewing Superintendent to manage crew operations and manpower planning for offshore vessels. Candidates with exposure to Cable Lay Vessels, AHTS, CSOVs, and other specialised offshore vessel operations will be particularly relevant. The position combines crew planning, maritime recruitment, regulatory compliance, training, welfare, and operational coordination.
