Job Description


The Head of Reporting – Vessel Accounts will lead vessel financial reporting, fund management, balance sheet reconciliations, and reporting governance across the managed fleet. The role involves team leadership, owner relationship management, financial controls, and process improvement.

This is a senior finance role for a Chartered Accountant with strong accounting, reporting, and team management experience, preferably within vessel accounting, shipping finance, or maritime accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Vessel Accounts Reporting team, including workload allocation, performance management, and team development.
  • Oversee accurate and timely vessel financial reporting in line with owner requirements.
  • Review complex and high-risk financial reports before submission to vessel owners.
  • Review and approve vessel fund requests and monitor outstanding funding requirements.
  • Ensure effective cash flow visibility and controls over fund movements.
  • Support accounting and reporting activities during new vessel takeovers and owner onboarding.
  • Review balance sheet schedules, reconciliations, ageing items, and month-end/year-end closing.
  • Drive resolution of outstanding and high-value accounting balances.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for vessel owner queries and financial reporting issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vessel owners and key stakeholders.
  • Strengthen accounting controls, reporting processes, SOPs, and quality standards.
  • Drive process improvements to improve reporting accuracy, efficiency, and turnaround time.

Requirements

  • CA qualification is mandatory.
  • 10–15 years of post-qualification experience in accounting/finance.
  • 3–5 years of team leadership experience.
  • Experience in vessel accounting, shipping finance, or maritime accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger processes.
  • Experience handling senior stakeholders and escalations.
  • Advanced MS Excel and accounting/ERP systems knowledge.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
