Job Description


We are seeking a Purchase Ledger Executive to support financial and accounting activities within a maritime and ship management environment. The role reports to the Ship’s Accountant and is responsible for the timely processing of supplier invoices, reconciliation of supplier statements, and ensuring payments are processed accurately in accordance with the ship’s accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and record all supplier invoices accurately and on time through the computerised accounting system.
  • Verify invoice details and ensure appropriate processing within the ship’s accounting system.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies where required.
  • Ensure supplier payments are processed accurately and in accordance with the ship’s accounts.
  • Maintain accurate records of invoices, supplier accounts, and payment-related documentation.
  • Coordinate with relevant internal teams and suppliers regarding invoice and payment queries.
  • Support the Ship’s Accountant with purchase ledger and accounts-related activities.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on outstanding invoices and reconciliation items.
  • Perform any other accounting and administrative duties as assigned by the Ship’s Accountant or departmental management.

Requirements:

  • Graduate qualification in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Relevant training, qualifications, or experience in accounting and purchase ledger functions.
  • Understanding of accounts payable, invoice processing, supplier reconciliation, and payment processing.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting systems and MS Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work systematically and meet invoice processing and payment deadlines.
  • Experience in a shipping, maritime, or ship management environment will be an advantage.
