Job Description


We are hiring a Training Superintendent for a leading Ship Management Company based in Mumbai. The role will be responsible for developing and delivering training programmes for seagoing and shore-based personnel, ensuring alignment with company quality standards, STCW requirements, and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute and deliver training programmes aligned with company objectives and training requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and continuously improve training courses, facilities, and quality systems.
  • Conduct training sessions and assess seafarers to ensure knowledge retention and practical application.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Technical, Crewing, and other departments to identify and address training needs.
  • Participate in crew seminars and collaborate with training institutions, consultants, and support teams.
  • Ensure training equipment, simulators, and facilities remain operational and fit for purpose.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with quality and training requirements.
  • Support fleet safety and operational performance through effective training and competency development.
  • Participate in shipboard visits or sailing assignments to maintain hands-on maritime expertise.
  • Develop and maintain the Annual Training Plan and contribute to the annual training budget.

Requirements:

  • Chief Engineer with minimum 5 years of rank sailing experience or 2 years of experience in a maritime educational role.
  • IMO Model Course 6.09 (VICT/TOTA) – Mandatory.
  • IMO Model Course 6.10 (TSTA) – Preferred.
  • IMO Model Course 3.10 (AECS) – Preferred.
  • Strong understanding of maritime legislation, STCW standards, and training requirements.
  • Knowledge of seafarer evaluation and assessment techniques.
  • Understanding of adult learning methodologies and emerging training trends.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and training delivery skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in English and applicable local languages.
  • Ability to work closely with seafarers, shore-based teams, and external training stakeholders.
