Job Description


The Vessel Manager will be responsible for supporting the technical and operational management of assigned vessels and ensuring smooth coordination of vessel activities. The role is suitable for professionals with relevant shore-based vessel management or ship management experience across chemical, container, or bulk vessels.

The role involves coordinating vessel operations, maintenance, compliance, documentation, and communication with shipboard and shore-based stakeholders to support safe, efficient, and compliant vessel performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of assigned chemical, container, or bulk vessels.
  • Coordinate with vessel crews and shore-based teams on operational and technical requirements.
  • Monitor vessel performance, maintenance activities, and planned maintenance schedules.
  • Support compliance with Flag, Class, statutory, and company requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections, surveys, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Follow up on vessel defects, repairs, spare parts, and technical requirements.
  • Maintain vessel-related records, reports, and documentation.
  • Support communication with vessels, service providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of operational or technical issues.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on vessel requirements and outstanding actions.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in vessel management, ship management, or marine operations.
  • Experience with chemical, container, or bulk vessels preferred.
  • Relevant sailing or shore-based maritime experience will be considered.
  • Good understanding of vessel operations and marine compliance.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple vessel-related activities effectively.
  • Candidates based in or willing to work from Chennai preferred.
