Job Description


We are hiring a Marine Training Superintendent – Crewing & Seafarer Development for a leading shipping company. This is an excellent opportunity for maritime professionals looking to transition into training, competency management, and crew development roles, including those exploring marine training superintendent jobs, maritime training careers, and seafarer development roles.

The role involves managing seafarer training programs, assessing crew competency, coordinating cadet development initiatives, and supporting maritime learning and training operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and coordinate seafarers’ training requirements in line with company policies and operational standards
• Assess seafarers’ competency and conduct interviews as part of training and development processes
• Update and maintain seafarers’ training records and competency documentation
• Analyse CES results and implement action plans to close competency gaps
• Supervise competency management systems (CMS) and follow up on assigned action plans
• Act as local cadet training coordinator and support cadet development initiatives
• Build and maintain relationships with maritime universities and training institutes
• Support development of study programs aligned with latest maritime technologies and industry requirements
• Represent the company at maritime universities and industry-related events
• Assist in preparation and monitoring of annual training budgets
• Ensure compliance with company training policies, procedures, and maritime standards
• Support management with training-related reporting and ad hoc operational tasks

Requirements:

• Officer background is mandatory; Engineer background is preferred
• Chief Engineer / 2nd Engineer experience preferred
OR
• Master / Chief Officer sailing experience may also be considered
• Ex-seafarers with Junior Officer sailing experience may also apply if willing to learn and build training systems from scratch
• Prior shore-based training or crewing experience will be an added advantage
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Ability to conduct training sessions and assess seafarers effectively
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities
