Job Description


We are hiring a Technical & Maintenance Engineer – Offshore Support Vessels & Tugs for a leading maritime company in Mumbai, India. This is an excellent opportunity for marine and mechanical engineering professionals seeking Technical Maintenance Engineer jobs, offshore vessel engineering careers, marine engineer jobs in Mumbai, tug maintenance jobs, and OSV technical management positions.

The role involves planning and supervising preventive and breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting heavy diesel engines and auxiliary machinery, supporting propulsion and vessel control systems, and ensuring the reliability and operational readiness of offshore support vessels and tugs.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Machinery Management:

  • Plan and supervise preventive and breakdown maintenance for main engines, 400 kW generator sets, and auxiliary machinery
  • Manage maintenance activities for main engines in the 2,500–3,500 BHP range
  • Coordinate and participate hands-on in engine overhauls involving Cummins, CAT, Wärtsilä, Yanmar, or similar engines
  • Monitor machinery condition, running hours, maintenance schedules, and equipment performance
  • Manage PMS activities and ensure timely completion of planned maintenanc

Troubleshooting & Technical Support:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control-system faults to minimize vessel downtime
  • Apply first-principles troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve complex machinery issues
  • Support ASD and CPP propulsion systems, bow thrusters, steering gear, and vessel electronics
  • Fault-find on PLC-based control, alarm, and monitoring systems
  • Coordinate with DP specialists, OEM representatives, and technical service providers for complex equipment issues

Vessel Operations & Technical Coordination:

  • Attend vessels for repairs, breakdowns, surveys, inspections, and technical troubleshooting
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair activities with vessel crews and shore-based technical teams
  • Manage spare parts requirements, inventory, procurement coordination, and maintenance records
  • Support vessel surveys, class inspections, dry-docking, and repair projects
  • Ensure vessels remain technically reliable and operationally ready
  • Coordinate with vendors, OEMs, classification societies, and other external stakeholders

Requirements:

  • BE/B.Tech in Marine, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or MEO Class IV/III CoC
  • 4–5 years of hands-on experience in heavy diesel engine maintenance
  • Experience in marine, industrial, plant, or EPC environments involving gensets, heavy equipment, or process plants considered
  • Proven hands-on experience in engine overhauls
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis skills
  • Good understanding of PLC controls, machinery electronics, and monitoring systems
  • Experience with heavy diesel engines and auxiliary machinery
  • Strong understanding of marine propulsion and vessel machinery preferred\
  • Mumbai-based candidates preferred
  • Willingness to travel along the Indian coast at short notice

Preferred Experience:

  • Sailing or marine engineering background
  • Experience with ASD/CPP propulsion systems
  • Bow thruster experience
  • DP systems exposure
  • Class survey and dry-docking experience
  • ONGC-chartered vessel or Offshore Support Vessel (OSV) operational experience
  • Experience working with Cummins, CAT, Wärtsilä, Yanmar, or similar engine systems
