Job Description


We are hiring a Marine Superintendent  for a leading Ship Management Company. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Master Mariners or Chief Officers to oversee fleet safety, quality, compliance, and audit functions while ensuring operational excellence across Bulk Carrier and General Cargo vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Internal ISM, MLC, and ISPS audits onboard vessels and at shore offices.
  • Plan and execute vessel condition inspections, safety inspections, and compliance audits across the fleet.
  • Coordinate RightShip inspections, prepare Corrective Action Reports (CARs), and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
  • Monitor Port State Control (PSC) deficiencies and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review weekly and monthly vessel reports, safety performance, navigational practices, and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor statutory stores, safety equipment, and vessel requisitions to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Company's Safety Management System (SMS) in line with current maritime regulations.
  • Provide operational guidance, safety advisories, and Letters of Instruction (LOIs) to Masters and shipboard personnel.
  • Liaise with vessel management teams, classification societies, flag administrations, and regulatory authorities to maintain compliance standards.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement across fleet operations.

Requirements:

  • Master Mariner (FG/UK/Equivalent) or Chief Officer (FG/UK/Equivalent) Certificate of Competency.
  • Sailing experience on Bulk Carrier or General Cargo vessels is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC, ISPS Code, and RightShip requirements.
  • Experience conducting internal audits, vessel inspections, PSC follow-up, and safety management activities.
  • Sound understanding of maritime regulations, compliance systems, and quality management practices.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, report writing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel onboard vessels for inspections, audits, and fleet support activities.
